HOW THE SCHOOL COMPETITION WORKS

Open to all students, past students, teachers & parents. Who will take home the inaugural school comp in 2024!?

Use the school ‘code’ (distributed internally) to receive the 10% discount when entering online. This will then automatically add you to that school team. You can run or walk the 8km, 15km & 21km (run only) to be eligible.

The points system will be done on your time behind the winner (in your distance/gender/age group). So in any given event, the winner in each age category will score zero, and then everyone else will ‘score' the time they were behind the winner.

We apply a factor to individual results to make them fair. The multiplication factor will depend on what distance option you did. The following factors will be used to work out your team points:

  • 1/4 for 21km run (based on average winning time approx. 3 hours)

  • 1/2 for 15km run/walk (based on average winning time approx. 1.5 hours)

  • 1 for the 8km run/walk (based on average winning time approx. 45mins)

(i.e. this is what your individual points will be multiplied by to give you your team's points. So, in the example above. 8km runner: 3 minutes behind the winner x 1 = 3 points. 21km runner: 12 minutes behind the winner x ¼ = 3 points)

The total points for each school will be calculated by adding up the best 10 individual scores. The winning school will then be the one with the lowest total score when all 10 scores are added together. The trophy will be presented to the winning school at prizegiving on event day!

Note: If you are running as part of a school team, you are still eligible for individual placings.
